The Waddensymposia provide a scientific platform for implementation of novel and innovative developments in the area of immune and stem cell therapies into the Dutch healthcare system and with it optimal opportunities to combat health problems associated with an ageing population in the twenty-first century. The symposia are organized by the Department of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion of the Leiden University Medical Center and take place in Hotel Opduin, Texel, the Netherlands.

The Waddensymposia offer an excellent opportunity for young investigators with a background in basic science, in translational and/or in clinical research to meet national
and international experts in their field. The maximum number of 50 participants allows an optimal exchange of novel concepts and ideas together with state of the art technologies which is required for translation into innovative clinical protocols (translational medicine).
